listed various types of packaging materials available and what type of material will suit your needs.

Many individuals face difficulty in choosing the right material for flexible packaging.

Below I have listed various types of packaging materials available and what type of material will suit your needs.

- Polyolefin
The material is 100% recyclable and therefore has its application in various industries. It also can be used for food packaging as it is FDA approved. This material is temperature resistant which is why it has high durability.

- High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
It is very popular for food packaging due to its features like being cost-effective, temperature, and moisture resistance.

- Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
LDPE is mostly used in film coating and can be found in food packaging as well as non-packaging objectives. The food industry is mostly used for wrapping veggies and poultry products.

- Polyethylene Terephthalate (PTE)
This material is environmentally friendly and is preferred by many FMCG industries as it can be easily recycled.

- PVC/ Vinyl
It is one of the most flexible and versatile materials. This is why it can be used in different sectors construction, healthcare, automobile, and electronics.

Some other types of materials used in flexible packaging are cast polyethylene, oriented, metalized polyester, Nylon, Paper Poly Foil Poly (PPFP).

Retort pouch

A retort pouch or retortable pouch is a type of food packaging made from a laminate of flexible plastic and metal foils. It allows the sterile packaging of a wide variety of food and drink handled by aseptic processing, and is used as an alternative to traditional industrial canning methods.

Packaged foods range from water to fully cooked, thermo-stabilized (heat-treated) high-caloric (1,300 kcal on average) meals such as Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MREs) which can be eaten cold, warmed by submersing in hot water, or through the use of a flameless ration heater, a meal component introduced by the military in 1992.

[1] Retort pouches are used in field rations, space food,

[2] fish products,

[3] camping food, instant noodles, and brands such as Capri Sun and Tasty Bite.

Some varieties have a bottom gusset and are known as stand-up pouches.
